Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister says his side are title contenders following their 2-0 win against Aston Villa.
The Argentine starred in midfield as Arne Slot’s men carved a five-point gap to rivals Manchester City, who lost earlier in the day.
Darwin Nunez netted in the first-half after Mohamed Salah was dragged down through on goal.
But the Egyptian scored himself in the second to wrap up the match.
Speaking to the press after the game, Mac Allister said: “Very big win against a very good team. The goals came in counter-attacks but overall the team played a very good game.
“We are happy with it. We know we’re top of the league but there are a lot of teams so we take it step by step.
“All our attackers have great numbers but Mo Salah stands out at the top” 🔥

“If we are top of the league by five points then it means something. But we have to go step by step.
“If you asked me before the season started I would not say we were candidates but now it looks like [we are].
“He [Salah] is so good and so important for the team. He is a legend here. Happy for him and when you have him you know he is going to deliver and get the numbers.”
