Liverpool put their title credentials on the line this afternoon when they visit Old Trafford to take on old rivals Manchester United.

Arne Slot has made a strong start to life at Anfield with Liverpool winning his first two games in charge – at Ipswich on the opening weekend and at home to Brentford last Sunday.

United have looked less impressive. They did squeeze out a 1-0 win over Fulham but then went down 2-1 to Brighton last weekend.

Manchester United Team News

Summer signings Joshua Zirkzee, who netted the winner against Fulham, and Matthijs De Ligt come into the side, as does Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho.

Mason Mount, who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, Harry Maguire and Amad Diallo miss out.

Man Utd: Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Fernandes, Rashford, Zirkzee, Garnacho, Casemiro, Dalot, Mainoo.

Subs: Bayindir, Heaton, Maguire, Eriksen, Diallo, Antony, Evans, Wheatley, Collyer.

Liverpool Team News

Slot names an unchanged XI from that which beat Brentford.

That means Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz continue as the front three with Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo on the bench. New signing Federico Chiesa is not yet ready.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Van Dijk, Konate, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Salah, Jota, Robertson, Gravenberch, Alexander-Arnold.

Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Endo, Nunez, Gakpo, Elliott, Tsimikas, Quansah, Bradley.
