Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is confident his team is close to securing a major win against one of the Premier League’s top contenders after their 1-1 draw against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
Currently sitting third in the league, Chelsea saw Pedro Neto score in the 70th minute to equalise after Gabriel Martinelli had put Arsenal ahead ten minutes earlier.
Maresca believes Chelsea’s elusive victory against one of the top clubs is imminent, as they have already delivered strong performances against Manchester City and Liverpool, albeit falling short of a win.
“I said many times, do you think we deserve to lose to Liverpool? No,” Maresca said.
“Very soon we will win these kinds of games – the performance is important as if you draw tonight and you didn’t play well, you would be happy.
“But look – Bournemouth away we didn’t deserve to win, and we did. Against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, we deserved to win, and we didn’t.

“Soon we will win – the performance was good.”
Maresca added: “We are very happy. For me, we are behind these kinds of clubs like City and Arsenal as they’ve worked every day with the same manager.
“We are behind them, but Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and we need to compete and try to win games. We tried to compete and very soon we will win these kinds of games.”
Chelsea’s lineup included Cole Palmer, who had been injured in a previous match against Manchester United after a tough challenge from Lisandro Martinez.
Although Palmer appeared to limp after the Arsenal match, Maresca assured fans that his condition is not a major concern ahead of the international break.
“I don’t think we took any risks,” Maresca said. “He was a doubt, but his performance was very good. He’s painful now, but it’s not something important.”
