West Ham striker Michail Antonio has been discharged from hospital more than three weeks after being involved in a car crash.
Antonio, 34, had surgery after fracturing his lower leg in the incident on December 7.
The Jamaica international had to be released from his car after becoming trapped during the crash in Epping, Essex and was taken to a central London hospital.
Antonio is West Ham’s all-time Premier Legaue top scorer with 68 goals in 268 appearances.
He spoke to his Hammers team-mates before a crucial 2-1 win over Wolves earlier this month, with players wearing ‘Antonio 9’ shirts prior to kick-off at the London Stadium.
“Everyone at the club would like to reiterate their heartfelt thanks to the first responders, emergency services, air ambulance staff and the NHS for the incredible support given to Michail in the wake of the accident,” West Ham said on Tuesday.
Club captain Jarrod Bowen said: “It’s been special to see the West Ham family and the wider football community come together in support of Michail over the last month.
“We are all grateful for the care that both the NHS and Air Ambulances UK have given to Michail during a challenging time for him and his family, and for what they continue to do every single day for people around the country.
“Pulling together during difficult times is what being a part of West Ham United is all about and on behalf of the team, I want to thank everyone for helping us to raise an incredible amount of money for two great causes.”
Manager Julen Lopetegui said it was a “miracle” Antonio survived the crash.
