Why is Arsenal vs Tottenham in Hong Kong?
Arsenal managing director Richard Garlick says the Gunners’ game against Spurs at the recently opened 50,000-capacity Kai Tak Stadium on July 31 will allow them to “connect” with their Hong Kong supporters in a “very important” part of pre-season preparations.
Tottenham visited Asia last season, playing two matches in Seoul and one in Tokyo. Arsenal are returning to the continent for the first time since 2012.
When does the 2025/26 Premier League season start?
The opening match round of the 2025/26 Premier League season will start on Saturday, August 16 2025.
The final round will be played on Sunday, May 24 2026, when all matches will kick off simultaneously.
When does the summer transfer window open?
This summer’s window will open early between Sunday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 10 due to an exceptional extra period because of the expanded Club World Cup, which Manchester City and Chelsea will compete in.
It will then close while the tournament unfolds before opening again shortly after the resolution of the tournament in the United States. Fifa’s new-look Club World Cup will start on June 14, with the final taking place on July 13.
The transfer window then re-opens on Monday, June 16.
When is transfer deadline day?
The transfer window then closes on Monday, September 1, with clubs having until 11pm to get their deals done before it slams shut.
Premier League clubs voted against moving the deadline day date to before the season starts and have chosen to continue to align with the rest of Europe.
