Sir Jim Ratcliffe has expanded his ownership in Manchester United, according to reports.
The British billionaire invested approximately £79 million to acquire an additional 1.24% stake in the club.
This adds to the 27.7% share he agreed to purchase in December 2022 for £1.2 billion, bringing his total ownership to 28.94%.
The Glazer family remains the majority owners of Manchester United, having acquired the club in 2005.
The SEC filings also revealed that Ratcliffe’s shares in the club have now been transferred to his INEOS Group. Ratcliffe, 72, serves as the chairman, CEO, and founder of the chemical company.
According to a source close to the situation, the additional funds from Ratcliffe’s latest investment will not be directed toward the January transfer window. Instead, the money will be allocated to broader club operations.

Under Ratcliffe’s leadership, Manchester United has implemented cost-cutting measures, leading to over 250 staff layoffs.
Financial constraints persist, with the club recently announcing cumulative losses exceeding £300 million over the past three seasons.
Despite his increased involvement, Ratcliffe has faced criticism during his tenure at Manchester United. Fans have expressed dissatisfaction over rising ticket prices and a perceived lack of focus on the women’s team.
Additionally, Ratcliffe has been scrutinised for extending Erik ten Hag’s managerial contract just five months before sacking the Dutchman.
Similarly, the decision to part ways with sporting director Dan Ashworth only months after securing his services from Newcastle for around £5 million has sparked further backlash.
