Liverpool are edging closer to securing Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s futures at Anfield.
While no final deal has been signed yet, sources suggest that negotiations are progressing well and the club remains optimistic about reaching an agreement with both parties on two-year extensions.
Salah’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and his future has been the subject of speculation, particularly due to interest from Saudi Arabian clubs eager to lure the Egyptian forward away from the Premier League.
Despite that, a breakthrough seems to have increased confidence within the Liverpool camp that Salah will remain at the club beyond this campaign.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has become a pivotal figure in the team’s success. This season, he has continued to shine, finding the net 32 times across all competitions and playing a key role in the Reds’ push for silverware.
Contract discussions are also underway with other senior players. Captain Virgil van Dijk recently shared a promising update on his own situation. Speaking earlier this week, the Dutch centre-back said: “There is progress, yes. These are internal discussions and we’ll see. I love the club, I love the fans and they were there for us again [at Fulham].”

However, there’s more uncertainty surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold. The right-back, whose contract also runs out at the end of the season, is reportedly in talks with Real Madrid over a potential free transfer to La Liga ahead of the next campaign.
Liverpool will not take any pleasure from losing one of their star trio, but if they are able to keep hold of both Salah and Van Dijk, they will still be set up to succeed under Arne Slot.
