Everton manager Sean Dyche offered mixed news on player injuries ahead of the team’s upcoming match against Southampton in the Premier League.
The ex-Burnley boss gave updates on Dwight McNeil, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and James Garner as the Toffees prepare to head to the South Coast.
On McNeil, Dyche shared a sense of optimism that he could feature this weekend.
He said: “Dwight has got a chance. We’re hopeful, he’s done a bit of work with the physio team today, so we’re hopeful on him.
Dyche also noted that midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure had a recent injury issue but was able to participate in training this week.
He added: “[Abdoulaye] Doucoure as well had a situation, but he’s been out on the grass today, so we’ll see how that reacts tomorrow.

Doucoure’s response to training will likely determine his potential return to the lineup, with the coaching staff closely monitoring his progress.
However, the news was less positive for James Garner, who faces a significant spell on the sidelines due to a back injury.
Dyche said: “James Garner is very unfortunate.
Specialists have recommended a “period to slow him down and take him off the grass.” He added: “It’s going to be weeks, not days, that’s for sure.”
With Garner out for an extended period, Dyche will need to consider alternative options as the team faces a challenging stretch of fixtures in the coming weeks.
