The Premier League have agreed on the 2025 summer transfer window dates following a shareholders’ meeting.

Clubs had been debating whether to change the dates of the transfer window to close before the 2025-26 season starts on Saturday, August 16.

Special dispensations have also been also been made to allow for the expanded Club World Cup this summer.

Here are all the key dates you need.

When does the transfer window open?

This summer’s window will open early between Sunday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 10 due to an exceptional extra period due to the expanded Club World Cup, which Manchester City and Chelsea will compete in.

It will then close while the tournament unfolds before opening again shortly after the resolution of the tournament in the United States. FIFA’s new-look Club World Cup will start on June 15, with the final taking place on July 13.

The transfer window then re-opens on Monday, June 16.

When is transfer deadline day?

The transfer window then closes on Monday, September 1, with clubs having until 11pm to get their deals done before it slams shut.

Premier League clubs voted against moving the deadline day date to before the season starts and have chosen to continue to align with the rest of Europe.

What transfers could happen this summer?

The name on everyone’s lips right now is Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is looking increasingly likely to make a huge move to Real Madrid this summer.

The 26-year-old is out of contract this summer and can head to the Bernabeu for free when his Reds deal expires, with reports suggesting he has already agreed his contract at the Bernabeu.

Real want to sign the England international before the Club World Cup but his contract at Anfield does not expire until June 30.

Al-Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo has also been linked with a temporary move in order to feature at the Club World Cup, with suggestions he could sensationally team up with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

Arsenal, who are set to finish as runners-up in the Premier League for the third straight season, will almost certainly be on the lookout for a striker with Newcastle talisman Alexander Isak believed to be their top choice.
