Dominic Solanke struck twice inside five second-half minutes as Tottenham came from behind to hand Aston Villa their first defeat in eight Premier League matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
England forward Solanke collected Dejan Kulusevski’s pass and dinked the ball over Emiliano Martinez to give his side the lead in the 75th minute.
The £65 million summer signing slotted in his second from inside the penalty area with 11 minutes remaining before James Maddison scored an added-time free-kick as Tottenham made it six consecutive home wins in all competitions since their league defeat to Arsenal on September 15.
Villa went ahead through Morgan Rogers’ 32nd-minute tap-in after Spurs struggled to deal with Lucas Digne’s corner, opening the scoring a minute after Amadou Onana had hit a post with a header.
Brennan Johnson fired in from close range to bring Tottenham level four minutes after the break with his seventh goal of the campaign.

Tottenham vs Villa goals
Tottenham were one of the more established contenders for a top-four finish displaced by Unai Emery’s Villa last season and the opportunity to put eight points between themselves and opponents who had lost two of their previous three league games seemed to be one the visitors would take during an assured first-half display.
As he so often has in the past, Son Heung-min helped to turn the tide with an excellent cross for Johnson’s equaliser on the South Korea talisman’s return from injury as captain.
The sense of surprise when Son was substituted soon afterwards appeared to be shared by the forward, who looked displeased on the bench after being replaced by Richarlison.

Making only his fourth appearance in Tottenham’s opening 10 league games as part of an injury-hit year, Richarlison laid on Solanke’s second after Pape Matar Sarr won possession but had to be substituted himself less than 27 minutes after coming on.
Solanke scored his first with a deft chip when Kulusevski’s clever low pass slipped him beyond a Villa defence that had looked dauntingly resolute before the break.
The former Bournemouth top scorer now has four goals in his first eight Premier League games for Tottenham, and there was even a silver lining over Richarlison’s latest injury concern when playmaker Maddison – brought on for the Brazil international – curled in a classy free-kick in the 96th minute.
