Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira says “it is normal” for players like Matheus Cunha to want the chance to compete for silverware.
The Brazilian said in a recent interview that he wants to make a step up and compete for honours on a regular basis.
Cunha has been a shining light on a poor season for Wolves this term, scoring 13 goals and notching four assists in the Premier League.
But he has also had a dark streak to his campaign, facing multiple bans, including one for brawling with a member of Ipswich’s staff.
Nonetheless, the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham have taken a keen interest in the 25-year-old who could leave Molineux this summer.
Speaking in his latest press conference, Pereira said: “He knows his potential, he is a top player. It is normal that he has the ambition to fight for titles, it’s natural. It happens with other players. But the most important thing is to be committed and help the team to achieve our targets.
Vitor Pereira will be speaking to the press at 1.30pm today ahead of #WOLWHU 🗣️

“At the end of the season we will see. Next season I don’t know, I don’t know if I’m alive tomorrow. It’s better to wait. The focus is the next game and the team.”
“If training gives me the confidence to play with Cunha, I will play with him because he has the quality to help us. With goals, with assists, in this moment if he has the right mentality to be focused and be with us it’s very easy to manage. If not, I’m here to decide.”
Cunha signed a new deal a few months ago until 2029, but there is an understanding that if a reasonable offer arrives for him this summer, he will be allowed to leave.
