AC Milan have moved quickly to appoint a successor to Paulo Fonseca with Sergio Conceicao taking over at San Siro.
Fonseca was dismissed this morning as expected after he hinted his tenure was over following last night’s 1-1 draw with Roma.
That result left Milan in eighth in the Serie A table, 14 points behind joint leaders Atalanta and Napoli.

Fonseca coached Milan for 24 games in total, winning 12 with the highlight being a 3-1 victory at Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The club opted to act with reports suggesting Fonseca was due a reduced payout if he was sacked within six months of being appointed.
Milan hope his fellow Portuguese Conceicao will fare better.
Experience of Serie A
The former midfielder has vast experience of Serie A having played for Lazio, Parma and Inter. He resigned as Porto boss in June after seven years in charge.
During his time at the Estadio do Dragao, he led Porto to three Primeira Liga titles as well as four Taco de Portugal crowns.
A Milan statement read: “AC Milan announces that Sérgio Paulo Marceneiro da Conceição has been appointed as the Head Coach of the men’s First Team until 30 June 2026.
“The Club extends a warm welcome to Sérgio and his staff, wishing a journey full of success and fulfillment.”
