Napoli boss Antonio Conte has praised the impact of summer signings Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku.

The Italian club secured a 2-0 victory over Hellas Verona in Serie A last weekend, extending their lead at the top of the table to four points over Inter Milan.

McTominay joined Napoli from Manchester United in August, while Lukaku arrived from Chelsea after successful loan spells with Inter Milan and Roma.

And both have had their say on the club’s excellent form under the former Chelsea, Tottenham and Juventus boss.

Speaking to DAZN, Conte said: “There have certainly been changes since the beginning of the summer, especially as I am still trying to find the right tactics for this team.

“The arrival of Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku, in particular, made a big difference to the switch to 4-3-3. We tried a couple of different formations before we settled on this one.”

McTominay has made 18 Serie A appearances so far this term, scoring four times and assisting twice.

Meanwhile, ex-United striker Lukaku has 13 goal contributions in 17 outings.

But things may be about to get tougher for Conte and Co, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Addressing the ongoing speculation surrounding Kvaratskhelia’s future, Conte added: “It’s a disappointment for me, not for the player or the club. In six months I failed to change the situation.

“I believe a coach should help a club to make decisions and advise on what players to sign.

“When I realise that I was unable to make a difference here, that is my disappointment. I take nothing from Khvicha, he’s a good lad, but everyone has to decide their own destiny, just as the club has to make its decisions.”
