Roma have sacked Daniele De Rossi with the club 16th in Serie A.
The Giallorossi have yet to win in four league games this season, drawing three, including Sunday’s 1-1 stalemate at Genoa in which De Rossi was sent off.
A club statement read: “The decision is made in the best interests of the team, to get back on the desired path as soon as possible at a time when the season is still in its early stages.
“A heartfelt thank you to Daniele, who will always be at home at the Giallorossi, for the work he has done in recent months with passion and dedication.”
De Rossi, who spent 18 years as a player with Roma, took over as head coach in January when Jose Mourinho was sacked.
A strong end to the season in which Roma climbed from ninth to sixth saw De Rossi handed a three-year contract extension but he only served three months of it.
