Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove was hospitalised after collapsing during his team’s Serie A match against Inter Milan on Sunday.
The game, which took place at Stadio Artemio Franchi, was halted in the 16th minute when the 22-year-old suddenly fell to the ground.
Players from both teams immediately called for medical assistance and formed a protective circle around him to shield him from view.
Medical staff quickly attended to Bove, who was stretchered off the field and transferred to an ambulance.
Following the incident, the referee directed both teams to leave the pitch, and the match was ultimately abandoned.
Bove, who joined Fiorentina on a season-long loan from Roma in August with an option for a permanent transfer, has been a key figure for the team this season.

He scored his first goal for Fiorentina in October, coincidentally against his parent club, Roma.
The young midfielder has represented Italy at various youth levels up to the under-21s but has yet to make an appearance for the senior national team.
Fiorentina currently sit third in the Serie A standings, tied on points with Inter Milan.
There is no news yet on when the match will be replayed.
