Paul Pogba will leave Juventus by mutual consent at the end of November, the Serie A club confirmed on Friday evening.

Both Pogba and Juve believe it’s in the France midfielder’s best interests to have a fresh start elsewhere after he had his four-year-ban for doping reduced to 18 months on appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The 31-year-old, who can train with a club in January and play in March, will now hit the free agency market.

Playing for Juve was a privilege – Pogba

In a statement, Pogba said: “My time at Juventus has come to an end.

“It has been a privilege to pull on the shirt of the Bianconeri and to share so many special moments together.

“I cherish the memories we made. They live on. Even in the most difficult moments over the past year, your support was crucial and I want to thank Juve fans around the world for their compassion. It has been a pleasure to have experienced so many great moments with my teammates over the years and I wish them every success in the future.

“I am looking forward to the next chapter of my career and to stepping out on the pitch with my next club.”

Positive test

Pogba tested positive for testosterone following Juventus’ 3-0 win over Udinese on August 20, 2023.

It compounded a miserable second spell in Turin after he rejoined the club from Manchester United at the end of the 2021-22 season.

He initially joined United in 2009 as a teenager before leaving for Juve in 2012.

He was lured back to Old Trafford in 2016 for a then world-record fee of £89million only to run down his contract and move back to Turin.

Pogba managed just 162 minutes of playing time in all competitions in the 2022-23 season and made two substitute appearances last term.
