Chinese Grand Prix Recap
A busy weekend in Shanghai saw every emotion tried and tested up and down the grid. Oscar Piastri managed to bounce back from a hugely disappointing home race of the season in the opener to take the win. His teammate Lando Norris finished in second place, securing a McLaren 1-2.
Lots of post-race drama that followed resulted in Ocon’s promotion to P5, shifting Kimi Antonelli, Alex Albon, and Ollie Bearman up the top 10, and pushing Lance Stroll and Carlos Sainz into the points. This was because three drivers were disqualified from the race. They were Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc due to car weight breaches, and Lewis Hamilton due to his car’s plank assembly coming in just a few millimetres below the permitted minimum thickness!
Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying Preview
A track adored by many drivers, Suzuka brings high speeds, famous fast corners, and challenges that really put the drivers and the cars to the test. This year, the home crowds will have had a massive boost heading into the race weekend after Yuki Tsunoda’s promotion to the second Red Bull seat. Both fans and the driver will be hoping for a positive start in his first race for his new employer.
While all eyes may be on Tsunoda, can Max Verstappen work his way back to the front? Or will the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris continue to show they have the best car underneath them and out-qualify the current world champion?
Ones to Watch
Red Bull
It is hard to ignore the news following the Chinese Grand Prix that Tsunoda will drive for Red Bull Racing in Japan. All eyes will be on the driver who replaces Liam Lawson after just two races, not only because it is his home Grand Prix but also to see how he can get that second car to perform. Tsunoda has always unqualified his teammate at Suzuka. Can he out-qualify Verstappen on his debut for the team?
Mercedes
After stepping out of the shadow of Sir Lewis Hamilton and gaining a new rookie teammate, George Russell went under the radar at the start of the 2025 Formula One season. Having secured two out of two podium finishes, the Brit is certainly one to keep an eye on.
McLaren
After each driver’s victory in the first two races of the season, McLaren undoubtedly has the car to win both the Constructors and Driver’s Championships. We expect both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris to be up at the front throughout the practice and qualifying sessions.
Special Liveries
Away from the on-track drama and driver swaps, there was plenty of other Japanese Grand Prix news coming from the paddock this week. In particular, it sees two teams debut the first set of special edition liveries for the season.
Red Bull honours Honda with a Special White Livery
With the Japanese Grand Prix 2025 being the last home race for Honda as the team’s engine supplier, Red Bull unveiled a special livery paying tribute to the company. The RB21 will feature an all-white livery with the national flag, and metallic red bulls, while the nose features the red sun, symbolising the Land of the Rising Sun.
Haas Special Livery
Haas is also joining in this weekend with another Japanese Grand Prix livery. It features cherry blossoms throughout the car as a celebration of Sakura, the cherry blossom tree coming into season.

How to Start Betting on Formula 1
Explore the various Formula 1 betting sites provided in this article and take a look at the markets, odds, and find the one that appeals to you the most or suits your way of betting best. Similarly, if you are a first-time punter, pick the site with the most appealing welcome bonus to you!
Once, you have decided on your preferred site and signed up, choose from some of the most popular ways to bet on the Formula 1. We have provided more info on this below.
Popular Formula 1 Betting Markets
Race Winner
This is as simple as it gets in Formula 1 betting. This is simply when a punter places a bet on who they believe will win the race! It’s as simple as that! The odds for this particular selection are usually at their highest before qualifying has taken place and will reduce as the weekend progresses.
Podium Finish
Podium finish applies to when a punter places a bet on who they believe will finish in the top three of a race. Once again, the odds for this selection are at their highest before qualifying. Even practices can change the odds! So make sure to keep a keen eye on the odds in order to claim the best ones possible!
Pole Position
Betting on Pole Position means wagering on which driver will qualify in the first starting position for a Formula 1 or other motorsport race. It’s a bet on the outcome of the qualifying session, not the race itself.
Futures
Future bets are when a person places a bet on something that is yet to happen, or will happen in the future. In the context of Formula 1, this would mean that a player will place a bet on who they believe will win the drivers or constructors championships, come the end of the season. The earlier this bet is placed, the higher the odds are. As the season progresses, and the more races take place, odds will change pretty much every day!
