Match preview

It’s one of the most important games in League Two this season as Swindon Town aim to get back into the playoff spots with Barrow in fourth playing hosts to last season’s playoff semi-finalists at Holker Street.

Barrow have had a sensational campaign so far and they are easily the surprise package of the campaign after finishing 22nd in the league but now sit fourth in the fourth tier. So far, Barrow have managed to put together 11 wins from the 20 outings and have a game in hand on Mansfield Town just below them and Stevenage up in second. Should they win that game, they could find themselves just seven points behind second.

Bizarrely, Barrow have drawn only one game so far in League Two, which does also mean they have lost an alarming eight times already in the division. Moreover, with 27 goals scored and 24 let in, there is not that much to shout about in that regard. At the same time, Barrow were hammered by Stevenage in second 5-0 last time out.

Swindon are only two points behind Barrow in the race for the playoff spots, but by also playing an extra game and already outside of the playoff spots, they are in a bit of a pickle ahead of this game.

Worse yet for the club, Swindon have not won since smashing Mansfield 5-2 back at the end of October. A 4-0 loss in the FA Cup to Stockport County was followed by a draw with Tranmere Rovers, before Swindon lost to Crewe and Crawley Town. A 0-0 draw with Wimbledon last time out means five winless games in a row.
