Match preview

Forest Green have been sucked back into the bottom three in League One after a loss to Burton Albion last week with Ian Burchnall’s men now set to play hosts to a Port Vale side aiming to get nearer the playoffs in 2023.

It was arguably the worst result of the season for Forest Green when they lost to Burton. It pushed the club back into 2023, with them now having to make up two points on Accrington Stanley to get out of the relegation zone.

Worse yet, Burchnall’s side now have played two extra games than Accrington and with 46 goals now conceded, they are now the worst defensive side in the league. Myles Peart-Harris scored in the 93rd minute for Forest Green against Burton, which was their 20th goal of the season.

Port Vale are heading into this one having lost to Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 away from home. They are still in ninth and with a game in hand over Wycombe Wanderers just above them, they can close the gap to just goals difference if they win that match.
