Can anyone halt LAFC’s march towards the Supporters’ Shield and, possibly, MLS Cup too?

Last weekend, despite the fact RSL had been almost flawless at home this season, the Black and Gold romped to a 4-1 victory in Utah.

Cristian Arango bagging a brace, while Kellyn Acosta scored a rocket and then Gareth Bale completed the route with a trademark, solo effort.

In that one, LAFC scored twice in the first 20 minutes, despite having not scored in the opening 20 of any prior away match in 2022.

They’re also the first team in MLS history to win five successive encounters with Real Salt Lake.

More important than all of that is the fact that Steve Cherundolo’s side have won five successive matches and seven of their last eight.

So, a daunting task for Charlotte FC, who’ve only won once on the road in this, their expansion season.

Queen City were beaten at home for just the fourth time lat weekend, going down 3-2 to Chicago Fire.

This is despite the fact Yordy Reyna opened the scoring after just 25 seconds.

Amazingly, the Peruvian also netted 26 seconds into their trips to Miami last month, a game Charlotte also lost 3-2.

Having lost three of their last four, Christian Lattanzio’s side have slipped down to 11th in the east.

Anything other than a home win at Banc of America Stadium would be a massive surprise.
