Have Toronto began their late push for the play-off places?

Last weekend, the Reds beat Nashville SC 4-3 at Geodis Park.

Jonathan Osorio continuing his best-ever scoring season, bagging a brace, before the two new Italians, Federico Bernardeschi and Lorenzo Insigne, were both on target in Tennessee.

The former an emphatic spot-kick, while the latter was Insigne’s first goal since joining the Canadian club.

This saw TFC become the first visiting team to score 3+ goals in an MLS match in Nashville.

More importantly, it ended the Reds’ 19-match winless streak on the road.

Over in the west, Portland Timbers were involved in a quite extraordinary match against Dallas last weekend.

The Timbers thought they’d won it, thanks to a 96th minute own goal, only for Diego Chará to score an own goal of his own in the tenth minute of injury time.

So, for the third time in MLS, a match has entered stoppage time goalless, only for both teams to then score.

This last occurred in 2014, a game that also featured Portland, taking on LA Galaxy back then.

In the here and now, Giovanni Savarese’s side are unbeaten in nine, albeit their last three games have all been drawn.

This is enough to keep Portland in the play-off places, but only just.
