Brazil is now primed and ready to take on the world at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar just two weeks from now after A Seleção boss Tite officially named his 26-man squad set to jet set to the Arab world’s first-ever tournament as hosts, with Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães expectedly included.

Guimarães (24) is one of thirteen Premier League-based players to be given the honor of representing Brazil this winter and one of five out of six midfielders all based in England as the top flight of English football maintained its heavy influence in the national team setup, and video has surfaced showing how he and his family reacted to his name being called during the live reveal.

Heading into Qatar as the bookie’s favorite to lift their sixth World Cup trophy, expectations surrounding Brazil are rampant after the South American powerhouse has embarked on a brilliant run of form that has seen them go undefeated across their last fifteen matches (12-3-0) and only losing just twice against Argentina if that record is extrapolated back to thirty (23-5-2).

Guimarães has been a key factor in midfield during that time period, earning five of his eight senior caps during this calendar year that saw Brazil post a 7-1-0 record and scoring his first-ever goal for the senior side in their 4-0 win against Bolivia back in March during CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying.

Back in England, the Grêmio Osasco Audax Esporte Clube academy product and former standout at Club Athletico Paranaense and Olympique Lyonnais has been one of the hallmark pieces for Eddie Howe’s high-flying Newcastle.

The Tyneside outfit currently sits third in the Premier League table after taking galloping strides in their bid to claw their way back to the upper echelons of England’s top flight in the wake of new majority ownership under Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, with Guimarães being one of their players of the season thus far while chipping in with three goals and two assists in a midfield fulcrum role that has pushed the needle for the club since his arrival.
