Supporters of Premier League giants Liverpool have flooded to social media on Friday, to reveal their excitement regarding the talents of an up-and-coming member of the club’s youth setup.
The player in question? Ben Doak.
For those not aware, Jurgen Klopp’s troops were back in action a short time ago.
Ahead of the imminent post-World Cup return of English football, the Reds saw out their final warm-up fixture, in a friendly showdown with Italian champions AC Milan.
And, safe to say it proved an altogether productive evening’s work for Klopp and co.
En route to an eventual 4-1 triumph, all of Mohamed Salah, Thiago Alcantara and Darwin Nunez (2) managed to find the net.
Instead, this honour has been reserved for the aforementioned Ben Doak.
After being rewarded for his stellar efforts at academy level with a spot in the Merseysiders’ travelling squad to Dubai last week, Doak, a summer arrival at Anfield, was introduced for the final ten minutes of action against AC Milan.
And, despite his limited time on the pitch, the teenage talent went on to make a telling impact.
Amid a thoroughly impressive cameo, which saw him showcase both his directness and final ball, Doak teed up Nunez’s 2nd of the night by means of a perfectly-weighted assist:
