Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale has, on Sunday, moved to lavish praise on a recent addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The player in question? Kai Havertz.

The name of German international Havertz has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of north London over the course of the last few weeks.

This comes after long-standing speculation surrounding the future of the Chelsea star was finally put to bed, upon Havertz putting pen to paper on terms with the aforementioned Arsenal.

After a difficult season at Stamford Bridge, the 24-year-old has opted for a new adventure, understandably keen to play a central role in an exciting project under the watch of Mikel Arteta.

With the new season inching ever closer to kicking into gear, Havertz, in turn, has begun familiarising himself with not only the system of play at The Emirates, but his new teammates, too.

Speaking to German outlet Kicker on Sunday, shot-stopper Ramsdale was drawn on Arsenal’s decision to bring in Havertz.

And the England international made use of the opportunity to heap praise on his teammate, highlighting a whole host of standout traits which he feels will aid the Gunners’ endeavours over the seasons to come:

“A very good commitment. Havertz already has a lot of experience, was captain in Leverkusen when he was very young.

“He is a national player, has won the Champions League and scored in important games. He can play in different positions, which helps the team.

“He’s also a tall boy, so he can also help with standard situations, including defensively, which shouldn’t be underestimated in modern football. Above all, it is striking how different he can play.

“He’s so good with the ball at his feet but at the same time he can be a target player. You can never really rest against him because he is constantly looking for free space.

“In addition, he is very altruistic and likes to use the wingers or players who move up from midfield. We want to bring these qualities to bear in our game.”
