David Raya’s transfer to Arsenal over the summer caused quite the conversation.
Mikel Arteta insisted that Raya’s signing was due to him wanting quality cover in all areas of the pitch.
Whilst this does make sense for outfield positions, having two no.1-quality options between the sticks is not something that happens very often, largely because goalkeepers do not need as much rest as outfield players and injuries to keepers are generally less frequent.
As a result, it was the view of many that Raya was brought in to replace Ramsdale in the Gunners starting XI.
Now, with Arsenal managing to keep just one clean sheet so far this season, it appears Ramsdale’s time could be up.
The Daily Mail claim Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is giving serious consideration to giving Raya a prolonged first-team opportunity in the coming weeks.
