No fewer than three key members of the first-team setup at Italian giants AC Milan sat out training on Sunday, whilst away on international duty.
The players in question? Olivier Giroud, Mike Maignan, and Theo Hernandez.
For those who may have missed it, hitman Giroud set pulses racing back in Milanello on Thursday, after limping out of France’s Euro 2024 qualifying win over the Republic of Ireland.
He, in turn, has since been forced to fly back to Italy for treatment.
Ahead of a Serie A showdown with arch rivals Inter next weekend, it will therefore no doubt come as a further source of concern for all associated with Milan to hear that Maignan and Hernandez, on Saturday, also sat out team training with Didier Deschamps’ France squad.
As per a report from RMC Sport, shot-stopper Maignan underwent an individualised session in the treatment room.
It now remains to be seen whether either will be risked for France’s friendly meeting with Germany on Tuesday night.
Hope remains amongst Stefano Pioli and his staff back in Milan, though, that not only Maignan and Theo, but Giroud, too, could yet be available to feature from the off in Saturday’s Derby della Madonnina.
🚨 Mike Maignan, Théo Hernandez et Olivier Giroud ont été absents de la séance d’entraînement des Bleus ce samedi.
