Antonio Conte has given his verdict on Tottenham’s summer transfer window.
The Lilywhites landed Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic on free transfers from Inter Milan and Southampton respectively.
They also secured the services of Clement Lenglet on loan for the 2022/23 campaign from FC Barcelona.
And in terms of major spending, Spurs have signed Richarlison from Everton for over £50m, Yves Bissouma from Brighton for around £25m and Djed Spence from Middlesbrough for a fee with the potential to reach £20m.
Now, with six signings through the door, Antonio Conte has had his say on Spurs’ summer window to date:
“We improved,” said Conte. “For sure we improved, that’s normal. When you go into the transfer market you try not to waste money, but if you decide to invest money and I think, up until now, we invested the right money,” he said.
“If, then, in only one year and seven months we are able to do something very special, I am the first to be very happy. I will push my players from the start until the end of the season to have ambition and be competitive in every game and every competition we are going to play.”
Lots of new Antonio Conte quotes as we chatted with him in Korea. He admitted Djed Spence is a club signing but he greenlit it because the 21-year-old can become an important player. He spoke about the transfer window, why he stayed at Spurs and more. https://t.co/aPrzebMN0h
