Arsenal look set to be without a headline member of Mikel Arteta’s squad for the club’s upcoming showdown with Manchester United.

This comes amid confirmation that Thomas Partey has picked up an injury which is likely to keep the midfielder sidelined for an extended stretch.

For those not aware, reports had been doing the rounds online for the last 24 hours, pointing towards former Atletico Madrid man Partey picking up a training ground issue.

Arsenal, for their part, had since failed to confirm or deny the news, keeping their cards close to their chest ahead of a highly-anticipated Premier League showdown with the aforementioned Man United on Sunday.

In turn, those in a position of power on the red half of north London will no doubt be extremely frustrated to hear of Partey’s injury instead being confirmed by another official source.

The Ghanaian national team unveiled their latest squad a short time ago, ahead of an upcoming AFCON qualifier versus the Central African Republic.

An accompanying statement, in turn, confirmed that this comes as a result of ‘an injury picked up in training’:

“Partey is left out of the squad due to an injury. According to his club, the player picked up an injury in training and could be on the sidelines for a while.

“Ghana are monitoring the situation.”
