Supporters of Premier League leaders Arsenal have taken to social media in numbers on Saturday evening, to take aim at Ukraine and Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk.
For those not aware, wide-man Mudryk was afforded his latest opportunity to impress on the big stage a short time ago.
Amid something of an underwhelming start to life in west London since putting pen to paper on terms with Chelsea in a big-money deal during the January transfer window, the 22-year-old turned his attention towards matters on the international stage.
This came as Ukraine made the trip to England, for a Euro 2024 qualifying showdown with Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions.
The visitors, when all was said and done, were deservedly put to the sword by two goals to nil at Wembley.
And the aforementioned Mudryk, for his part, majorly struggled in efforts to make an impact.
Mykhailo Mudryk vs England by numbers:
61 minutes ⏳
0 shots on target ❌
0 fouls won ❌
0 chances created ❌
0 passes into opposition box ❌
4 dispossessions ❌
1/2 dribbles completed 😬
1/8 ground duels won 😬 pic.twitter.com/f3faNht6o6— Barstool Football (@StoolFootball) March 26, 2023
And, as alluded to above, one group of fans who appeared to draw particular enjoyment from Mudryk’s woes on Sunday come in the form of the Arsenal faithful.
This, of course, comes after the pacy attacker was widely expected to link up with Mikel Arteta’s troops prior to landing at capital rivals Chelsea.
Sitting pretty eight points clear at the Premier League summit, and with Leandro Trossard – brought in as a Mudryk alternative – continuing to impress, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear that those of a Gunners persuasion have not been at all shy in making their voices heard online on Sunday night…

I don’t care if he’s 6 years older tbh, so glad we got Trossard > Mudryk. Technical levels are incomparable.

AI said this on Mudryk but we called him an arrogant mad man… Look at Trossard impact since he came in compared to this bloke that’d need all the time in the world pic.twitter.com/8N0E43LZQ5

I’m actually so glad we got Trossard and not Mudryk. What an Edu masterclass that one was.

Mudryk was a bullet dodged. To think Arsenal almost spent 100m on him is amazing. A scout needs a telling off! #AFC #ENGUKR
