101 covered a report from the Sun recently, which claimed that Arsenal are struggling to sort out a new contract with William Saliba.
The French international only has a year remaining on his current £40,000-a-week deal. And whilst the Gunners are ready to offer Saliba £120k-a-week, they have been shocked by the demands made by the centre-back’s representatives.
It was also added that Arsenal are not prepared to let him run down his contract and leave as a free agent next year, which suggests that unless an agreement can be reached this summer, the Gunners will be looking to sell Saliba very soon.
Now though, Arsenal have been told to give into William Saliba’s contract demands by former England striker Jay Bothroyd:
“Honestly I think Saliba has every right to demand similar money to top Arsenal earners,” Bothroyd wrote on Twitter.
“It wasn’t long ago that (Calum) Chambers and (Pablo) Mari were chosen ahead of him, (Mikel) Arteta saying he’s not progressing fast enough! That obviously upset him, now Saliba holds the cards you have to pay him.”
