Arsenal are in advanced talks with Brighton for the signing of Leandro Trossard, who was subject to interest from Tottenham earlier in the transfer window.

The Belgian, who can operate anywhere across the frontline and has also filled in at wing-back for the Seagulls, is almost certain to leave the South Coast following a training ground bust up with new boss Roberto De Zerbi at the beginning of the month.

“It is…important that Brighton cooperates with a potential transfer during this transfer period and shows a benevolent attitude, which is beneficial to both parties”, a statement by Trossard’s agency explained after De Zerbi had confirmed that the attacker would miss their 3-0 win over Liverpool due to his attitude problems following the World Cup.

Out of contract in 2024, the 28-year-old is thought to have been offered around the Premier League, with north London rivals Tottenham having tabled a £12m bid earlier in January.

This was immediately rejected by the Seagulls, who value him much higher despite recent events, while he is valued at £26m by football database transfermarkt. So far this season, Trossard has contributed 7 goals and 3 assists, including a hat-trick against Liverpool.

And as per Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have pounced after they were left burned from a deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk, with the Ukrainian opting for a switch to Chelsea over the weekend rather than a move to north London.

Trossard is able to play on either flank, while he has also been used as a striker at both domestic and international level. He has scored 25 times in 116 Premier League outings for Brighton.
