Arsenal are keen to sign winger Wilfried Gnonto from relegated Leeds United this summer, with the Italian having already had the blessing of club legend Ian Wright this season.
The Gunners are keen to add to their squad in forward areas, with Bukayo Saka having played a part in all 38 games last season and little known about the longer term of Reiss Nelson, whose contract currently expires in the coming days.
It has led them to Gnonto, with Arsenal among several Serie A sides ‘following his situation closely’ this summer according to reports coming out of Italy.
Criminally underused towards the backend of the season, Gnonto was excellent during his minimal game time for Leeds, and attracted attention of clubs around Europe despite only grabbing two goals and four assists in 24 appearances, which wasn’t good enough to prevent Leeds from dropping into the Championship.
Already a full Italy international at just 19-years-old, he has mostly played on the left flank but can also play on the right, which could offer Arteta a chance to rotate Saka in and out of the side on a more regular basis.
He already has the seal of approval from Ian Wright too, with the former Arsenal top goalscorer dubbing Gnonto one of the ‘exciting players’ capable of ‘some brilliance’ during his stint at Elland Road.
