Arsenal and Manchester City are going head-to-head for the first time this season.
Manchester City beat Arsenal to the Premier League title last term and also dominated them in the head-to-head standings.
City did the league double over the Gunners and also knocked them out of the FA Cup.
But after a £200m spend in the summer, Arsenal fans will have been hoping for something different this time around.
They would have to face Man City without their main striker, however, as Gabriel Jesus is out injured once more.
Manchester City began the tie dominating possession, with Arsenal very happy to sit back and soak up pressure.
One of which saw Thomas Partey give the ball away on the edge of the Arsenal box, which allowed Rodri to smash an effort just wide of Aaron Ramsdale’s post.
After a slow start to the match and a few misplaced passes, Thomas Partey has come in for criticism on social media, with just some of the reaction shown below:
partey is such a liability omd

Is Partey scared of the ball?

It’s just 16 minutes in but Thomas Partey should Join Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League.

Thomas #Partey HAS TO STOP the stupid turnovers in the defensive 1/3…
Has he not learned from last season against West Ham/Declan Rice?

Partey release passes too early man.

Seriously, Thomas Partey is cooked. Giving it away constantly, just like the last few months of last year. Why in the world he was brought back instead of sent out, especially when Saudi Arabian clubs/Juventus were willing to pay, is behind me. #Arsenal

There has to be someone better than Thomas Partey we can get
