Premier League giants Arsenal are preparing to open contract negotiations with a key member of Mikel Arteta’s squad, according to reports.
The player in question? Martin Odegaard.
Norwegian international Odegaard, of course, is fresh off a fine campaign in north London.
Afforded the responsibility of the captain’s armband at Arsenal, the former Real Madrid man stepped up to the plate and then some, racking up 15 goals and seven assists across 37 Premier League starts.
Such efforts proved central to the Gunners’ extended, albeit ultimately failed title challenge, with Odegaard’s efforts having since seen him rewarded with a nomination for Premier League Player of the Year, too.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of the powers that be at The Emirates being understandably keen to tie the club’s captain down to fresh terms.
Significantly, it is also assured that ‘the plan’ on the part of both parties ‘is to continue together and get a new deal done’:
