The man in question is Declan Rice, who joined Arsenal in a British record deal earlier this month.
After breaking the bank to sign Rice, Arsenal are expected to improve upon their 2nd place finish last season and will also be looking to pick up a trophy or two.
Rice has been crucial for West Ham and England for several years now, playing a key role in the Hammers’ Europa Conference League win.
And now, Bacary Sagna has backed Rice to replace Granit Xhaka in Arsenal’s midfield:
“He is probably one of the best midfielders in the world at the moment,” Sagna said. “His progress was amazing through his path with West Ham.
“I’m not surprised to see him join, for me, what is the best team in England at the moment.
“Mikel Arteta has done an amazing job and I think they will have another chance to show the world they can be champions as well.
“He’s going to have a huge impact. Granit Xhaka is gone so, I see him replacing Xhaka perfectly.”
Whilst Rice should do well at Arsenal, it seems unlikely he will be given the Xhaka role, with the former Hammer more suited to replacing Thomas Partey at the base of the Gunners’ midfield.
