Speaking on Off The Ball’s Football Saturday Podcast, Mark Lawrenson was asked to name his team of the season.
When doing so, Lawrenson named Oleksandr Zinchenko in his left-back spot and had this to say on the Arsenal man:
“The left-back I put [Oleksandr] Zinchenko. “I know he missed one or two games before the end of the season, but he was the very first to come in and play in this box in midfield.
“It made such a difference and his passing was absolute quality. That’s why I’ve gone for him.”
Whilst a lot of people did put Zinchenko as their left-back in the 2022/23 Premier League Team of the Season, the Ukraine international did have some patchy showings at the back end of the campaign.
As a result, a number of other people chose to hand the left-back spot to Manchester City’s Nathan Ake.
