Arsenal kicked off their Premier League season with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

Jurrien Timber started the game but was taken off in the second half due to injury.

Timber is now facing months on the treatment table, with scope to suggest that he could miss nearly the entire 2023/24 season as a whole after he suffered an ACL rupture.

This injury leaves Arsenal with limited options at centre-back, and any suspension or injury picked up by William Saliba or Gabriel would leave their backline looking very thin.

Now, Timber has posted an injury update to social media.

The defender’s surgery has taken place and Timber took to social media on Friday to share a first picture on crutches, caption simply with the Dutch word ‘Vrijdag’, meaning Friday.

“I wanted to repay you on the pitch, which will not be possible for the forthcoming period. I’m blessed with a lot of great people around me, together we will do anything to get back as soon and strong as possible.

“For now I’ll be supporting our team from the stands of course. Thanks for making me feel at home in such a short period of time, see you at The Carpet.”
