England's Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer has been ranked 25th in the men’s Ballon d’Or for 2024 despite his eye-catching breakthrough year for Chelsea and England.

Palmer has had 52 goal contributions in 56 appearances since his move to Chelsea last summer and winning the Premier League Young Player of the Year as well as becoming a regular in the England team, scoring twice in nine caps including in the Euro 2024 final.

The 22-year-old’s impressive 2024 form places him among the very best forwards in Europe but was only enough for 25th among the Ballon d’Or voters, made up of 100 journalists from the top 100 of FIFA’s member nations.

England team-mate Phil Foden was the highest-ranked player outside the top 10, finishing 11th after his stunning campaign for Manchester City which saw him win the Player of the Year.

Arsenal duo Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka also both ranked higher than Palmer, with the Norwegian finishing 19th and Saka named in 21st.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez came in 18th place after helping Argentina lift another international trophy at the Copa America.

Fellow Premier League stars Ruben Dias and William Saliba finished on 23rd and 24th respectively, while Declan Rice was ranked a place behind in 26th.

The top three to take the award as already been revealed with City midfielder Rodri battling against Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.

The 30-10thth-ranked stars were also revealed in the women’s competition with England right-back Lucy Bronze coming 20th and Lionesses team-mate Lauren Hemp finishing 28th.

Hemp’s Man City team-mate Yui Hasegawa came 26th, with Chelsea striker Maya Ramirez taking 21st place.
