An update on the wellbeing of Barcelona and Denmark defender Andreas Christensen has been forthcoming late on Thursday.
And the news has proven to be of an altogether less than positive nature.
For those who may have missed it, Christensen set pulses racing across the Barcelona fanbase earlier this evening.
This came upon the former Chelsea star being forced into a premature departure from Denmark’s European Championship qualifying meeting with Finland.
En route to an eventual 3-1 victory, Christensen lasted less than 20 minutes, before pulling up with a muscular issue.
The problem ultimately culminated in head coach Kasper Hjulmand coming to the decision to haul the stopper off, with Victor Nelsson introduced in his place.
As per a report from the generally reliable Javier Miguel of Spanish outlet Diario AS, the 26-year-old is in line for a prolonged spell out of action.
Owing to what is understood to be a calf injury, Christensen is not expected to be available for selection at either club or international level for a period of three to four weeks.
This would of course mean the summer arrival at the Camp Nou sitting out the 2nd leg of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey semi-final showdown with Clasico rivals Real Madrid.
