Spanish giants Barcelona have, on Sunday night, provided an update on the wellbeing of defender Alejandro Balde.
Both Barca, and Balde, were of course back in action earlier this evening.
As part of the penultimate round of fixtures of the La Liga season, Xavi Hernandez’s troops welcomed mid-table Mallorca to the Camp Nou, having long wrapped up the Spanish top-flight title.
And, when all was said and done, Barca saw out their final home outing of the term in style, romping to a three-goal triumph courtesy of an early Ansu Fati brace, followed by a late Gavi stunner:

On an otherwise fine day’s work, however, as alluded to above, Barcelona were also dealt a blow on the personnel front.
This came with just over a quarter of an hour on the clock, when the aforementioned Alejandro Balde was carried from the field of play, on the back of a heavy challenge.
Barca, in turn, have since provided an update on the wellbeing of their gifted young defender.
And though any form of fracture has been ruled out, Balde is expected to be sidelined for six to seven weeks, after suffering ‘a partial tear of the lateral collateral ligament of the right ankle’.
