Barcelona are considering a bid for Tottenham outcast Sergio Reguilon, and are willing to offer Dutchman Memphis Depay in exchange for the Spaniard, as they look to bolster their defensive ranks.

Xavi’s side had earmarked Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso as the man to provide cover for Jordi Alba at left-back, but the relationship between Barcelona and the Blues has been jeopardised this summer by the events of the transfer window.

The La Liga giants have hijacked Chelsea’s moves for both Raphinha and Jules Kounde, with both players now turning out in Catalonia rather than Chelsea., which has led to Thomas Tuchel reported blocking a move to Barcelona for either Alonso or Cesar Azpilicueta this summer.

As a result, Xavi has changed his focus, with Tottenham outcast Reguilon now thought to be the preferred option. Reguilon was left out of Tottenham’s pre-season tour, and seems certain to leave north London this summer following the arrival of Ivan Perisic on a free transfer and Ryan Sessegnon’s impressive performances last season.

And, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Blaugrana are ready to offer a straight player swap, which would see Memphis Depay head to Tottenham in exchange for Reguilon, with the Dutchman another free to leave Barcelona this summer.

Where would Depay fit?

Spurs have been credited with an interest in Depay for much of the summer, with stories suggesting that Antonio Conte remains on the hunt for further cover for his front line despite having already signed Richarlison this transfer window.

For Tottenham, it would also represent a low cost option, with likely no transfer fee needed and only an unwanted squad member the cost for Daniel Levy and co.
