La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have, on Thursday evening, been dealt what could prove to be a serious blow on the personnel front.
Xavi Hernandez’s men, of course, are currently locked in action.
Fresh off a stellar stretch of form on the domestic front, the Blaugrana have turned attentions towards matters on the continent.
In what is widely viewed as the tie of the round, Barca have welcomed Manchester United to the Camp Nou, for the first of two Europa League meetings between the clubs.
To this point, the clash has proven an evenly-contested one, with the hosts having dominated when it comes to possession, but visitors United having come closest to opening the scoring.

As alluded to above, though, with 45 minutes on the clock in Catalunya’s capital, the scoreline actually represents the least of Barcelona’s worries.
The player in question? Pedri Gonzalez.
After delivering the ball back into his own half shortly before the interval, midfield prodigy Pedri, out of the blue, pulled up with what appeared to be a muscular concern.
Seen to by the hosts’ medical team, it was subsequently decided that the Spanish international was in no fit state to continue, culminating in his exit from the action, to be replaced by Sergi Roberto.
With Sergio Busquets already sidelined, all associated with Barcelona now face an anxious wait to discover the extent of Pedri’s injury.
Get well soon, @Pedri 🙏 pic.twitter.com/Q9yvOeuS3A
