Barcelona fullback Hector Bellerin has revealed that he is ‘really happy’ at the Camp Nou and would like to sign a new deal with his boyhood club if the opportunity arises.

At present, the former Arsenal man, who joined Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer, is out of contract next summer having only penned a one year deal with the Catalan giants. So far, he has been something of a bit part player for Xavi’s side, appearing just three times in La Liga and a grabbing a further pair of outings in the Champions League as he works his way back from a muscle injury.

And despite this slow start to life in Catalonia the defender, who spent last season out on loan from Arsenal with fellow La Liga side Real Betis, is keen to extend his stay and continue working under Xavi.

“I want to sign a new deal as I want to stay here at Barça, I’m really happy”, he explained.

“Projects take time, it’s normal in football. We trust Xavi, 100%”, the 27-year-old added.

Barcelona are actively in the market for a right-back this summer, with Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot having been linked with a switch to the Camp Nou in recent weeks and the position still a problem for Xavi.
