Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Wilfried Ndidi with the Leicester City midfielder set to become a free agent this summer, it has been reported.
The Blaugrana continue to look for ways to strengthen their side on a shoestring budget, having landed midfield duo Ilkay Gundogan and Oriel Romeu over the summer as well as Inigo Martinez on a free transfer and Portuguese duo Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix on loan deals.
Next in their sights is an alternative to Romeu, with the no.6 role at the club currently looking threadbare beyond the former Southampton man. Though Frenkie de Jong is capable of playing there, he is seemingly preferred further forward while both Sergio Busquets and Franck Kessie left the club over the summer.

To that end, Spanish outlet Sport.es claim that Ndidi is the man that the Blaugrana are looking to in a bid to fix their issues, with the Nigerian still at Leicester City but in the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium.
Though they weren’t willing to join the bidding war with Bayern Munich for the midfielder in recent transfer windows, the opportunity to sign him on the cheap in January or on a free transfer in 12 months time may be one that they choose not to pass up.
The La Liga champions are still under strict constraints from financial fair play, something that was tested when they signed Joao Felix on loan on transfer deadline day, and therefore there could be little wiggle room left for the Catalan side unless sales are forthcoming first should they wish to make a move in January.
