The Hungarian Football Federation have released a statement confirming Barnabas Varga is in a stable condition in hospital.

The striker was caught in a three-way clash with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn and defender Anthony Ralston in the 68th-minute of tonight’s game in Stuttgart and received extensive treatment on the pitch with medical staff holding sheets around the Ferencvaros man while it was being carried out.

He was eventually taken away on a stretcher, leading to 10 minutes of injury-time during which Kevin Csoboth scored the only goal as Hungary won 1-0 to finish third in Group A.

The statement read: “Barnabas Varga’s condition is stable. The Ferencvaros player is currently in one of the hospitals in Stuttgart. We will inform you immediately if there is any news about his status.”
