Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has, on Saturday, made clear his frustrations with Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez.

This comes owing to the Blaugrana boss’ recent comments, regarding Joshua Kimmich.

Drawn on Barca’s alleged interest in Bayern’s midfield talisman last month, Xavi was not at all shy in admitting that:

“He is a super top player, who understands the game in a fantastic way. If there is an open door, there will be a negotiation with Bayern.”

Such a statement, however, has gone down predictably poorly amongst those in a position of power at the Allianz Arena.

Speaking in an interview of his own on Saturday, aforementioned Bayern chief Herbert Hainer was asked for his take on Xavi’s Kimmich comments.

“First of all, Xavi was an excellent player and I have big respect for Barcelona. But I don’t understand why they’re openly and offensively ‘flirting’ with our player. Joshua Kimmich is an absolute cornerstone for us.”

Hainer continued:

“Joshua is a leader, has won many titles with us and will also continue to win titles with us in the future. He’s firmly in our plans for the future and one of the players to build the team around.”
