German heavyweights Bayern Munich have, on Saturday, been dealt a concerning blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid claims that a headline member of the Bavarians’ summer recruitment drive is set to sit out the opening weeks of the new season.
The player in question? Raphael Guerreiro.
For those who may have missed it, left-back Guerreiro sealed a surprise move to the Allianz Arena this summer.
Fresh off a stellar campaign with Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund, the Portuguese international opted to cross the Klassiker divide, on the back of the expiration of his BVB contract.
Those of a Bayern persuasion, in turn, are no doubt excited by the prospect of seeing Guerreiro take to the pitch in the club’s colours for the first time.
This comes amid claims that Guerreiro has suffered an injury.
As per a report from the reliable BILD, the 29-year-old, on Saturday, suffered an injury during pre-season training.
And though the severity of the problem, as of yet, has not been confirmed, Guerreiro is nevertheless expected to sit out both Bayern’s upcoming tour of Asia, and the opening weeks of the 2023/24 campaign.
