Belgium v Romania: Line-ups confirmed for Group E clash at Euro 2024

Belgium and Romania have revealed their starting XI's for their Euro 2024 clash.

Belgium's Kevin De Bruyne

The line-ups have been announced as Belgium take-on Romania in Group E at Euro 2024.

Team News

The Red Devils have made four changes to the side that lost embarrassingly to Slovakia, with Arthur Theate, Jan Vertonghen, Youri Tielemans and Dodi Lukebakio all coming into the side.

It is the same 4-2-3-1 formation deployed by manager Domenico Tedesco, but he will be hoping the change in personnel will give his side a much-needed boost.

Captain Kevin De Bruyne will need to have a better game if he is to guide his nation up the rankings while Romelu Lukaku will have to find the target more often as well.

Unsurprisingly, Romania have not opted to tweak too many things.

There is one change from head coach Edward Iordanescu, with Florinel Coman being replaced by Parma’s Valentin Mihaila.

That means the colossal Radu Dragusin of Tottenham will be in at centre-back again and goalscorers Nicolae Stanciu, Razvan Marin and Denis Dragus all retain their places in attack.

The State of the Group

This really is a must-win game for Belgium if they are going to advance to the knockout stages.

Their 1-0 loss to Slovakia in their opening game is officially the biggest upset in European Championship history, with the two nations separated by 45 places in the world rankings.

A Romania win would not guarantee their place beyond the group stages, but it would go a long way.

Their superior goal difference means should they end the night on six points, it would take them losing to Slovakia in their final match and the teams below them to score a ridiculous amount of goals to overtake them.
