Brentford boss Thomas Frank must contend with the loss of one of his most trusted on-pitch lieutenants after the Bees confirmed that left-back Rico Henry will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 Premier League season.
The 26-year-old former England youth international was subbed off in the 42nd minute during Brentford’s 1-0 loss against Newcastle United at the weekend after having gone down awkwardly during a dual with Magpies captain Kieran Trippier, with the club confirming the player suffered a “significant” knee injury after assessing the damage.
A statement issued by Brentford via the club’s official website offered support for the fan-favorite and longest-serving player.

“Rico will require surgery in the next week or so and, unfortunately, a prolonged period of recovery,” said head of medical Neil Greig.
“Whilst this is disappointing, Rico has been through a similar experience in the past and is already focussed on using this as an opportunity to become fitter and stronger than before. We will support him fully throughout this process.”
As things stand, Ben Mee, Mads Roerslev, and Aaron Hickey are the players who have some measure of experience being deployed on the left side of the defense, but it remains unclear how Frank will replace such a vital piece of the puzzle at the GTech Community Stadium.
