Brentford are faced with an excellent chance to get their wobbling season back on track as they play host to equally out of form Chelsea on Wednesday night in a midtable clash.

The Blues have lost four out of four under Frank Lampard, and have nothing left to play for following their exit from the Champions League, with the club currently 11th in the Premier League and with no chance of bringing European football back to Stamford Bridge next season.

Both they and Thomas Frank’s side have lost three and drawn two of their last five Premier League games, and have seen any dreams of anything but a midtable finish vanish, leaving them with little to play for but pride in this north London derby.

This is how we expect the Bees to line up, and the latest team news from the Community Stadium.

Predicted XI

Team News

Brentford come into the tie with Chelsea with several injury concerns of their own, with Christian Norgaard unavailable but Kevin Schade passed fit for the game.

“Christian [Norgaard] will not be available. He’s got some issues with his Achilles that they’re trying to get on top of”, Thomas Frank explained.

“[Kevin Schade] available for tomorrow – it was cramp, just fatigue [which saw him subbed against Aston Villa].”

Beyond that, they will also be without Pontus Jannson and Keane Lewis-Potter for the remainder of the season.

Backup goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha is also unavailable, while Kristoffer Ajer has returned to training but the clash with Frank Lampard’s side will come too soon for the Norwegian defender.

Ivan Toney remains available with his investigation into betting offences ongoing.
